The commission found that a group operating under the name Quantum AI or AI Quantum has resorted to using fake videos and images featuring famous entrepreneur Elon Musk to convince unsuspecting people that the SpaceX creator is the founder of the platform.
The creators of the criminal group Quantum AI used deepfake technology to commit fraudulent scams. To make it realistic, the scammers used AI to organize video calls with victims, imitating the identity of Elon Musk.
It is worth noting that the fraudulent platform named above has nothing to do with NASA’s Quantum AI Lab (QuAIL), which is engaged in research in the field of quantum computing.
The alert issued by authorities lists three websites and two Facebook pages for cryptocurrency scams.

The fictitious platform was also accused of spreading “false and misleading information about itself”. The group launched a fake “news” website to promote data about its services to further confuse potential victims.
According to local reports, Hong Kong police have been instructed to crack down on the platform. All Quantum AI websites and associated social media pages will be removed as part of these measures. It should be added that the full damage caused by the scammers remains unknown for now.
Amid the Commission’s warning, Hong Kong is also pushing for the introduction of a licensing regime to regulate cryptocurrency service providers. Thus, the HKSFC has approved formal applications from 23 crypto exchanges and ordered all other organizations to cease operations by the end of May 2024.
