The American Gaming Association (AGA), the European Casino Association (ECA), and the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to address key issues facing the global gambling industry.
The MoU is designed to help combat illegal gambling, ensure responsible gambling, and bring innovation to the sector.
The coalition will create a dedicated platform for joint research projects, through which members of each organization will be able to share their expertise and experience in the field of gambling.
“By sharing our unique resources, we will expand our fight against illegal gambling to new fronts, work together to strengthen responsible gaming, and innovate around business best practices,” said Bill Miller, AGA president.
The first initiative under the MOU will be a law enforcement and regulator round table scheduled for January 2025.
Key topics of discussion:
- The impact of illegal gambling on the activities of legal operators
- Ensuring consumer safety
- Developing strategies to improve inter-jurisdictional cooperation
- Creating practical solutions to combat the black market
Earlier the gambling association has already drawn attention to the growing market of legal gambling in the US. AGA officials have said that legal betting for the 2024 NFL season will reach $35 billion, in contrast to $26.7 billion in 2023. The growth is attributed to the expansion of regulated sports betting markets in several U.S. states, including Maine, North Carolina, and Vermont.
