Another Russian who was enslaved in Myanmar has become known. He was lured to a scam center via the same scheme as the others: he was promised a salary of $10,000, and after arrival his documents were seized.
The camp, where hundreds of people from different Asian, European and CIS countries are held, is located on the border of Myanmar and Thailand. The facility has armed guards and a barbed wire fence, inside there are prisoners who are forced to work in fraudulent schemes (cryptocurrency scam/scam dating, etc.). Meanwhile, outside – peaceful life and locals who “don’t notice” what’s going on.
- Coordinates of the proposed camp: 16°28’16.7″N, 98°38’50.7″E
Google maps has the only review near the camp claiming human trafficking here:
Some of those involved in the hostage release are the Chinese organization “699. They come to the camps in APCs and take people according to pre-determined lists. To get on such a list, you have to find a phone, turn on geolocation and send a request – all this in secret from the guards.
The new captive from Russia has not yet been able to hand over his data. His release will take 2-4 months. After that, he is likely to be sent to Thailand, where he risks being detained because of an expired visa.
Earlier, an IT worker Vadim managed to escape from a similar camp. He was also promised a salary, but his passport was taken away and he was forced to scam people on the Internet “for food.” A few months later, Vadim organized an escape with other captives from Sri Lanka and made his way to Thailand. Now he’s free.
One of the largest centers of its kind is KK Park. Hundreds of people from all over the world are held there. On the surface it looks like a business center, but in reality it is a factory for fraudsters. Any attempt to escape or disobedience is severely punished.

“The conditions these people have are horrific,” a global analyst at the Global Fusion Center of the International Justice Mission told Global Fusion. “They are forced to work 12 or more hours a day, and if they don’t meet quotas for contacting potential fraud victims, gangs beat them, torture, and even deprive them of food.”

A review possibly from a KK Park representative:
Scam centers continue to lure people through fake job openings and other various schemes. They promise high salaries, but instead victims are enslaved. Despite the efforts of human rights activists, the number of such camps is only growing.
