Flashing creatives are often found in Facebook Ad Library and Spy services. Let’s figure out what these creatives are and what they are used for.
These are flashing creatives consisting of cuts of different videos (including adult content). Usually, this method of using flashing videos serves for passing moderation on adult offers.
Structure of Flashing Creative
We’ve taken a few of these creatives as an example and split them into frames to see their structure and peculiarities.
The first few frames of the video are neutral:
Every 9-11 frames the adult video is interrupted by a neutral frame:
At the end of the creative, there is a long neutral video, lasting 30 minutes or more:
Key Points
- The first frames of the creative are almost always neutral – not adult!
- Next comes the adult video, which lasts about 1 minute.
- It may be interspersed with snippets of other videos (most often complementing the idea of the creative).
- On top of this one-minute adult video, about every 10 frames 1 overlapping frame with a neutral image appears. This frame flashes quickly during the viewing process and creates a flashing effect for the viewer, but does not spoil the perception of the adult content.
- At the end of the video, any neutral video or image is added to increase the total length of the video to 30-45 minutes.
