Step-by-step instructions on how to set up cloaking in the Keitaro tracker (the CPARIP promo code gives a 22% discount) using the parameter in the UTM tag. It is suitable both for beginners, as an easy way to set up Facebook cloaking, and for already experienced buyers to protect the pre-landings to which they drive traffic.
Cloaking via UTM-tag parameter
This method consists of filtering bots and moderators using a specified UTM-tag parameter. It is connected with the name of the ad in the Facebook ad campaign.
The logic of this cloaking method is that the {{ad.name}}
parameter automatically pulls up the value of the ad name into the link on Facebook. This happens after moderation and in the ad the user sees. Since bots and moderators follow the original link inserted in the ad and with an empty {{ad.name}}
value, the tracker filter does not allow them to enter the gray landing, it directs them to the white page.
A similar method of cloaking for TikTok is described in this article: https://cpa.rip/en/tiktok/tiktok-ads-keitaro-clocking/.
Step-by-step setup
The first thing you need to think of is a name for the parameter, for example, we will use “utm_creative
“. In the placeholder of this parameter must be written {{ad.name}}
, it pulls the name of the ad from Facebook into the link. This will be needed next. Enter utm_creative={{ad.name}}
into any free sub id in the parameters tab of Keitaro campaign settings.
As a result, the ready advertising link will contain: utm_creative={{ad.name}}
.
The next step is to create an intercepting flow for bots and moderators. In its settings switch to the “Filters” section, and in “Add Filters” add the “Parameter” and select it.
In Parameter Name, we add UTM-tag utm_creative
, select “is not” and in “Select or enter custom value” we add the value (we’ve used CPA.RIP as an example). In fact, it can be any value.
Then in “Add Filters” enter “Bot” and select it. Click “Apply” and save the campaign.
We also create a normal flow to the offer and a closing flow.
Further, when setting up a Facebook ad campaign, it is necessary to specify the CPA.RIP value in the ad name:
Attention! The value of the
utm_creative
parameter in the intercept flow filters in the tracker and the name of the Facebook ad must match exactly, otherwise all traffic will go to your white page.
Features and Benefits
The advantage of this method of cloaking is that if your ad is found in a Spy service such as Adwall.io, it is impossible to break through this method of cloaking without knowing the value for utm_creative because everyone can create any value he wants. The link to these services is uploaded in the same form as when inserted into the Facebook ad.
If the name of the ad during creation of the ad campaign was not written or was written differently, it is necessary to copy this name and add it to the tracker parameter. For example, if you have created a new campaign, its ad name is New Leads Ad, copy and paste it into the tracker parameter.
Or if you make a duplicate ad, your name will be CPA.RIP – Copy. Copy and paste the same way. Don’t forget to save and double-check if the value has been added.
Also, if clicks do not reach the desired flow in the tracker campaign, the first thing to do is to check if the name of the ad coincides with the assigned values.
Performance check
When checking the performance you should copy the link from the tracker, substitute your value instead of {{ad.name}}
in the link, and click on it. If you use a country filter, you need to use a VPN.
