Europe Dismantles Fake Investment Platform Network With Losses Exceeding €4M

On November 3, law enforcement agencies from several countries, supported by Europol and Eurojust, carried out an operation against an international network of fake investment platforms. Seven suspects were arrested, searches were conducted at 17 locations, and more than 100 servers were seized. Losses are estimated at more than €4M.

According to investigators, a company operating in Cyprus and Israel provided fraudulent groups with fake investment websites. Its alleged clients included call center operators in Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.

Advertising and affiliate programs were used to attract victims. The ads led to fake investment platforms, while the personal data collected this way was sold to fraudulent call centers. Their employees called potential clients and persuaded them to invest money.

The platforms promised quick profits from cryptocurrencies, currencies, and stocks. At first, victims deposited small amounts and saw fabricated profits in their accounts. After that, the “brokers” began pressuring them to transfer increasingly larger sums.

When users tried to withdraw their money, the scammers delayed payments under various pretexts. Eventually, they simply stopped responding, and recovering the money was no longer possible.

The investigation began back in 2022 after a complaint from a married couple in Germany who were unable to withdraw money from one of the platforms. That same year, law enforcement arrested two suspects, and in 2025 they conducted new searches and arrests. The collected evidence helped identify the alleged supplier of fraudulent websites and the call center operators connected to it.

According to Europol, potential victims of the scheme were located in more than 50 countries. The seven suspects were arrested for extradition to Germany.
